The National Institute of Physical Education of Catalonia (INEFC) in Barcelona, in the Anella Olímpica in Montjuïc was designed by the architect Ricard Bofill. It was opened in 1991, a year before the Barcelona Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in 1992, and it was one of its main venues, along with the Stadium and the Palau Sant Jordi.
The INEFC Barcelona building has approximately 33,000 m2 built and 15,500 m2 of outdoor tracks. It has classrooms of different sizes and diverse spaces for practical training: a large central conference hall, surrounded by two large pavilions, a specialised area for practising artistic gymnastics, a football field, a space for athletics, two beach volleyball courts, etc., all of which are versatile spaces which can host activities of a highly diverse nature.
This venue hosts events such as the 080 Barcelona Fashion Week through to the Women's World Fencing Championship which is held there every year, as well as institutional events of all kinds and even private activities such as weddings or group celebrations.
